Heres a short pictorial on how to do rust. If at some point youre creating old looking pieces, doing rust is a must. I have a couple of ways to do rust. The long way consists of 11 different color combinations. I've refined it down to 4 colors, white glue and real fine sand. i'm sure there are alot of ways to do rust, heres my way.
Colors: Sedona Clay, Crocus Yellow, Black,
Sepia, White Glue, Sand
Black is the first color down
White glue is next on the black
Real sand from Palm beach Florida
pour the sand over the glue, let dry
First color on the sand...Sedona clay (Adobe Red)
Crocus yellow mixed with Sedona clay
Sepia dabbed here and there
Here is what you will have
When it is completely dry, colors will dull down
Simple way to do rust
A great realistic result, and I shall copy your method. Thanks for sharing!
