 Another one of my favorites is this little guy from Architects of War. I've never seen another miniature that has the facial expressions like this one. I think Johnny comes marching home fits this pretty well.

The one armed Colonel

Greetings ledheads,
  Last April I put up my one armed Confederate Colonel that I purchased from Architects of War. He was by far my favorite Confederate officer.  After going back to it on the blog, I thought I would pull him out of the cabinet and put him back on the table. He was nowhere to be found. There were only a couple of places he could be, either on the table or in the drawer...he was nowhere. This was very upsetting because I know where just about everything is. I came to the realization that someone stole him. I have a few ideas on who it was, but can't prove it. Why someone would take this is beyond me.
Everytime I went to the basement, I started looking for it, wasting time and becoming obsessed in finding the miniature. I finally decided to go back to the Architects of War and buy another one. I might nail it to the table just so it doesn't disappear. Anyways here are a few shots of the new one armed Colonel. The flag is hand painted and varnished.

   Im waiting for a few figs to arrive so I have nothing to do, so Ill put some items up that I think will be of some interest.

Harpers Weekly April 2nd 1864. developing the Soldiers Cemetery
at Gettysburg. At this time 3100 Union soldiers were reburied from the battlegrounds.
Evergreen Cemetery which is behind the Soldiers Cenetary still had shattered
headstones in April 1864. The Confederate soldiers were not moved until 1872.

Harpers Weekly July 8 1865. Exterior view of the cells in which the
conspirators are confined...by the time this paper came out they were dead and buried.

Old Abe...this card was sold for 15 cents to benefit the Great Sanitary Fair
in Chicago which opens May 30 1865. This card was printed before that date.
  Old Abe was still flying. He flew over the confederate army screeching
and scaring the hell out of the confederates. He flew with the 8th Wisconsin
in 38 engagements from 1861 thru 1865.

 No new terrain building right now but I have a couple of items that might be of some interest. A page from an 1893 calendar with unit designations and medals from the Union Army of the Civil War.  A New York Times April 4th 1915  supplement for the 50th anniversary of the Civil War

A little outdoor signage

Greeting ledheads,
   This is nothing major but it gives these particular buildings a finishing touch. I have an old crumbling Harpers Weekly that had a few ads that I could use on these buildings. The photographer is out front taking shots of his new sign. The photo shop and the print shop get new signs. The fence around the photographers shop is actually a railroad track from an H. O. train set.
