Hello, Hello, Hello....I hate reproductions, why??? because sometimes you cant tell them apart from the real thing. There are a few reasons why I would buy a reproduction. The real one is not available, I can't afford the real one or damn it, I just want it. The following items fall in all three catagories.
The first item is a reprinted newspaper...The Daily Citizen July 2nd 1863, Vicksburg, Mississippi. After the Federals had taken the city. The original of the Daily Citizen was printed on wallpaper due to the lack of printing paper. This was published in the Chicago Herald during the summer of 1885 as a suppliment. Like the original it too was printed on wallpaper. This is an 1885 reproduction of the 1863 Daily Citizen. The second newspaper is a reproduction of the April 15th 1865 New York Herald, covering the assassination of President Lincoln reprinted in 1900.
This blog has inspired me to re-read Killer Angels. Tremendous stuff.

ReplyDeleteLooking at your pieces makes me realize there are reproductions and reproductions. These are some of the nicest reproductions I've ever seen -- absolutely beautiful. I think anyone would be proud to have these in a collection. Thanks for showing them!
