Items from the Captains room
Greetings everyone,
Just a couple of items of interest from the collection. A three dollar bill from Jackson City Missouri 1862 , stamp forgeries from 1847 thru 1872
That three dollar bill is very cool. I didn't know there was a time when the individual States minted their own money. And I've never heard of counterfeit stamps. Wonder what the penalty was for getting caught.
Thanks Anne...during the war all the states had there own money, thats why counterfeiting was out of control. Not only states had there own money , most of the banks had there own money also.
Damn nice Captain.

DeleteI was not aware that the states all had their own money during the war, that must have made logistics a bit of a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteMost of the banks printed there own money in addition to the states printing money.
