The Civil War Medal of Honor

Greetings ledheads,
Heres something you won't see everyday, at least not a real one. This is a reproduction Civil War Medal of Honor. In the U. S. it is illegal to buy or sell a real MOH . The going rate for a Civil War MOH is approx. $10,000. A medal from WW2 to the Vietnam War is about $300,000. So Im happy enough to settle for a reproduction which also are not available in the U.S. This particular one came from Australia. During the Civil war 1522 medals were issued. One being issued to a woman doctor, and the last one issued to a soldier from the Civil War was in 2001, the delay being caused by a missing report. There were 2 versions of this medal, the first one was from 1862 to 1895 and the 2nd one with a totally different ribbon was issued from 1896 to 1903.

  2. It has so much dignity in it with the Eagle perched so proudly on the top. Beautiful animal and a terrific emblem for a country to adopt.

    1. Thanks Christopher...Supposedly $10,000 is the going rate on a real engraved medal, Ive never seen one for sale or I never knew anyone who bought one. The FBI has a task force just to research stolen or sold Medals of Honor and the fine is $100,000 or a year in jail.
